With a BA in screenwriting and MFA in Fiction, I taught high school for seven years before becoming a mom to the best little girl and boy in the world. While teaching, I was fortunate to teach creative writing and film classes in addition to trudging through the classics. I also co-founded the school's first gay-straight alliance. I've been a reader all my life, starting with a series of Care Bear Books and Grover's Book of Resting Places. Eventually I graduated on to Sweet Valley Twins and The Babysitters Club. In junior high, I discovered Lurlene McDaniel and her One Last Wish books. I always knew I wanted to be a writer but it wasn't until high school when I read The Things They Carried did I think to myself, THIS is good writing.
